Since in mid 2010 they left to public aid for the sale of new cars, the automotive sector began to experience a notable decrease in sales which has continued a three month another until reaching the eighth consecutive month of decline. The latest data published recently recpecto to sales of new cars for the month of February 2011 reveal a fall of 28% compared to the same month of the previous year, with little more than 66,000 new cars sold. Of these, only half corresponds to purchases of private individuals, which represents a decrease of 45% compared to 2010. The companies experienced a small increase in the acquisition of new cars, but it was so minimal that it did nothing to compensate the bad purchases data. The automotive sector was last year the second sector of the country with more quantity of exports, since the manufacturers produced one 10% increase in new cars, but only 13% of that production was acquired in Spain. This demonstrates that the crisis economic that it traverses the country, is not nor much less overcome, and will continue hurting the sale of new cars also in the coming months.

In this year 2011 forecasts that were made a few months ago are being fulfilled almost to the foot of the letter, since they advertised declines of 20% during the first quarter of the year. The authorities, for their part, continue to encourage purchases of new cars, although measures recently adopted as limitations on speed, the high price of fuel and pollution that they cause, are that it is complicated to augur a prosperous future. Anyway, it seems that during the next few years the new car market will stabilize and half square will revert to record positive data, thanks mainly to the need to acquire new green cars.
